How to play Nonograms

Clues show the lengths of filled runs in each row or column, in order. Separate consecutive runs with at least one empty square. Tap to fill, or turn on Cross mode to mark empty cells. Right-click also marks an empty cell. Every picture has one solution. Hints reveal a square. The daily 10×10 picture resets at midnight UTC; completed designs reveal their names.

Read a clue with an example

A clue of 2, 1 means a run of two filled squares followed by a separate single filled square, with at least one blank between them. In a five-square row, one possible arrangement is filled, filled, blank, filled, blank. The clue does not tell you where the unused space belongs; intersecting column clues resolve that. A clue of 0 means the entire line is empty.

Find overlaps before guessing

In a five-square row with a clue of 3, the middle square is filled wherever that run starts. Mark it, then check its column for another deduction. Use Cross mode for squares you know must be empty, and switch back to Fill to continue the picture. A completed clue indicates that the current runs match its numbers; you still need the intersecting lines to agree. Start with a 5×5 picture to practice, then try the 10×10 daily puzzle.

Questions players ask

What does a clue of zero mean?
The entire row or column is empty. Cross its squares rather than filling them.
Do two runs have to touch?
No. Separate consecutive runs with at least one empty square, while keeping the clue order.
Does Hint explain a whole line?
Hint supplies one correct mark and counts as assistance. Use its crossing row and column to find your own next step.
